After several failed attempts to find wedding shoes, I came across Chequers
Shoes. They have a great selection, and the sales associate, Claire, was exceedingly patient with me as I tried several different styles and sizes. When I decided on a style, the in-store shoes didn’t fit quite right. Claire proactively ordered in a new pair and kept me posted as to their arrival status. As it happened, the new pair didn’t fit me perfectly either, and the store owner offered to alter the material of the shoes to my size. They really know their stuff and I was very pleased overall with the service!

My wife has just bought another pair of shoes from Chequers Shoes in Huntingdon. What a great shopping experience it was for her to go where the staff understand the needs of the customer and efficiently sort out what is required. The trained staff always go further than the extra mile and are always so kind and obliging. There is the best range of very comfortable yet stylish footwear for the sporty and those continually on the move. She travels nearly a hundred miles to shop at Chequers Shoes in Huntingdon as she knows they will never let her down.

I returned an 11-month old pair of shoes that had ‘malfunctioned’. They were replaced without any problem whatsoever. Exemplary customer service that many others can learn from. I will be happy to recommend Chequers Shoes to family, friends, work colleagues and fellow golfers.

Having had no luck trying to find a shop ,and also on the computer , that sold my favourite make of shoe I called at Chequers Shoes , Huntingdon as they have a good range of makes- and also had a sale on ! Whilst my Wife was buying a lovely pair of sandals I asked Rod the owner if he could help. I received amazing service as he tracked them down on his computer, ( and he remembered the make), found a wholesaler, and had them ready to show me in 48 hours !
I defy anyone to get service like this at any other shoe shop and it was so refreshing to meet someone with a wealth of experience in selling shoes. I came away amazed that service like this still existed as other shops simply said -"Sorry we don't sell them" Very Many Thanks Rod for your 6 star Service !

As a previous customer of Chequers Shoes (Huntingdon) I had expected good things when I returned my Josef Seibel shoes for a small repair. However like a few other people have commented in reviews, the store owner Rod can be extremely rude and aggressive when things aren’t going quite right. He seems unprepared to give any firm time scales or contact customers to provide an update if there are delays. Having not been contacted for a week after dropping off the shoes for what I understood was a simple fix that would take a day or two, I phoned the store and spoke to Rod. It seems there had been an issue but he told me they were his top priority and he would call when done; I presumed later that day but heard nothing. When I phoned the next day to check if they were ready to collect, his manner changed like a flick of a switch and after a rant he ended the call abruptly. It seems the service from the shop is initially very good when you’re paying for goods but things can soon deteriorate if there are any future problems. I did get the shoes back with a quick super glue fix that clearly only took a few minutes. Safe to say I won’t be spending any more money in this shop again.

Manager was rude, aggressive & threatening towards me with his words tone attitude & sarcastic comments. I noticed online that 2 identical card transactions had been taken out of my account for 1 pair of trainers I had purchased 9 days previous. On the day I was told there had been problems with the card machine, I continued to use my card which was then declined. I cannot confirm using it a 2nd time and I'll explain why in a bit. I believe I paid cash as card was declined. This however was doubted by myself today as I have had 2 identical transactions taken out on the same day. I then wondered if one transaction was declined & the second accepted, that's what it looks like. I called this shop to explain my situation, the man on the phone, wasnt listening, was rudely interrupting me, would not let me explain the situation. When I said I dont know if card was used for payment or cash I was rudely laughed at and shouted at. I was told make up your mind, told both methods cannot be used for 1 transaction. I asked if he would calm down & listen to my reasons why I was confused, he refused to stop & listen, i then had to raise the volume of my voice to explain i had a TBI, a traumatic brain injury. That I had an invisible disability which was caused by 3 brain haemorrhages, said the frontal lobe to the part of my brain for my memory is affected, said to him hes not listening and discriminating against an invisible disability etc etc.... I was told in no polite way to shut up, that he doesnt care about my disability & that he will look into it in due course, then he hung the phone up on me. He did in a previous phone call explain that without a receipt for the trainers he wouldn't be able to do a thing. Denied saying his machine was ever playing up & said unlikely it will be solved. I think it's clear to see that not just myself but others have found they've experienced the same ways attitude & manners of this apparently nice shop owner. Surely we cant all be wrong. Must say, nice and helpful when purchasing the trainers, very different experience when questioning a purchase or suggesting his shop had taken unauthorised payments from my bank account.

Either paid £106 or £159 for a pair of trainers that were £53.10

That's just my experience.
I will not be shopping there again. Not a chance

Update.... bank statement with your registered business name & number good enough for you? Where it has 2 transactions which I was told declined & you taking my money?

Look forward to seeing you soon

UPDATE...

So after all of this & telephone calls telling me his shop hadn't taken any payments from me, I then get a text from a third party asking me to call regarding this matter. Upon answering I was told by a man apparently called Keith that both card payments taken from Chequer Shoes would be debited back into my account. Oh so the payments the shop denied taking? The 2 payments that I questioned? So I was right i asked? I paid 3 times for 1 pair of trainers? Once cash & twice on card when told they declined? All I got back was a yes, the person then ended the call.

No apology from this person on the shop owners behalf, nothing.

Unreal

The staff are so lovely and very helpful. I took my youngest daughter in last week for a pair of sketchers for school and then my oldest daughter today and normally this is very stressful as she has size 9 feet and is only 15 years old. First pair of sketchers tried on fit perfectly I couldn’t believe it! I shall be returning here to shop for my shoes from now on! This shop has a very good selection of shoes especially for me sketchers as I live in them. Thank you so much guys I totally recommend this shop!!!

I have narrow feet and my partner size 12 wide feet. Shopping at Chequers is an absolutely joy. They know their stock, they match their stock to their customers’ requests – all in a relaxed atmosphere - PLUS, there is plenty of choice for those who don’t think there is! And, if its not in stock, they’ll order it in. Shop once and you’ll be a regular appreciating personal service from Rod and Claire.
