Co-op is freezing cold ....the staff heard me complaining about the temperature in there and said the heating isn't working....I feel so sorry for your staff in there trying to cope with layers of clothing to try and keep warm....this is a disgrace because if you don't look after your workers this day and age then that's not good to be quite honest....shopping in your store today was not pleasant whatsoever!!!!! And no feedback from said Co op says it all , they only reply to customers that give them good reviews, shame on you ryton Co op !!!

Ok to pop into for a few bits n bobs and a bottle of wine, and the staff are really friendly and personable. Barely anyone on the main tills so you have to be prepared to pack your stuff very quickly at the kiosk with a queue of half a dozen people behind you. It's also an Amazon collection point which is fantastic! Stock can be a bit hit and miss, half of the freezers can be empty or switched off, and insane prices on some items (e.g. £7.50 for kitchen roll).

Edit: 5 months after my original review I've dropped it from 4 to 2 stars. I'm sick of the increasingly long queues to get served at the kiosk, most people in the queue with a basket full of groceries, because the Co-op are too short staffed to open a proper till. I only tend to use this as an Amazon collection point these days as the queues + the lack of stock is getting worse.

Delivery order: delivery driver accidentally smashed a bottle of wine that was included in my order. I called the store and the man I spoke to was more than helpful and even went out of his way when he finished his shift to ensure my order was rectified by delivering it to my home. Fantastic service, cannot recommend the staff here enough. Absolutely amazing and caring.

wide selection of good food. Branded food is sometimes slightly overpriced especially sweets, baking things, pop and cereal. However, unbranded food is cheaper. They should bring back 17p lemonade for more customers. Frozen food meal deal is always good and cant complain about that. More staff on tills would be nice.

Hardly ever anyone on the tills. Makes it difficult to pack shopping from the kiosk when you have a trolley. Stock is hit and miss. I've stopped going now as quite often I had to go somewhere else to get a few items they didn't have in the co-op. I once had a delivery and they replaced frozen peas with sweetcorn and replaced mixed veg with corn on the cob so I ended up with three lots of frozen sweetcorn!!!

Larger Co-op selling a wide selection of products, generally of a good quality. It’s never too busy which makes for a peaceful, unhurried experience. The Co-op does a great deal of excellent community work and I think it’s worth supporting.

Nice spacious shop and wide checkouts. Nice staff. No cash back at the moment. As a disabled person, I parked near to shop in a disabled spot no problem, however, I had to trek all the way inside to get a trolley but what was worse is that I had to trek all the way back inside to return it, when I was by that point, much more tired.
