Called in after 3 on a Saturday afternoon, to find it open but very dark inside and not particularly welcoming.

Maybe as I had just visited Selby Abbey, which was wonderfully light inside, I was struck by how dank the Minster was.

Don't get me wrong, there are some wonderful windows and other objects, plus a fascinating history.

Set in a lovely little town. Free to enter. Donations excepted.

Lovely place, with friendly people in a pleasant town/village. The sort of place you visit more than once. Very photographic, along with the Rectory and Park. I arrived shortly afore a service and so no internal photos.

An amazing Minster, that can be seen from miles away, set In the heart of the town and it’s many cobbled streets and lanes. I have walked it hundreds of times and still find a new vantage point to photograph.

First planned stop in my trip of hunting 'old stones'. Pitty the church was closed. Howden Minster (also known as the Minster Church of St Peter and St Paul, Howden) is a large Grade I listed Church of England. A church in the Diocese of York. One of the largest churches in East Riding. Dedicated to St Peter and St. Paul, and it's therefore properly known as 'the Minster Church of St Peter and St Paul'.

Lovely small English Town, suitable for a short walk and shooting photos.

Parking in the streets. Some nice shops and old houses/buildings. Local people are very friendly and helpful.

Can't give full set of stars for a site you can't expire inside and out. Nice to do a lap around but very little to see otherwise.

This is an atmospheric ruin set in the picturesque heart of Howden. The ruined part of the Minster lies behind a fence and only part is accessible. The interior of the Minster is a little disappointing as it appears bare on entrance but it is worth exploring. The
'Mouseman' carpenter worked on the choir, the font cover is spectacular, the stained glass windows are interesting and there are a couple of medieval tombs. Allow about half an hour for a visit.

An unfolding of one of the most beautiful preservation of history. Quietly revealing a secret garden to lives well lived decades ago. Seeping in history coupled with a presentation that is most welcoming to the visitor. Old hand in hand with the new as we are introduced to the teachings of the youngest generation in Hope that they will lead the gospel to the nations. Absolutely a must to see.
