My boyfriend heard the staff talking about me after they wouldn’t replace a faulty product I had bought. The product was still in date and had a hole in the packet that I hadn’t seen until I got home.

I had to throw it away, lost money over it but the worst part is how they are all gossiping on their headsets every time I go in and after this experience, I know they gossip about customers too I’m really uncomfortable going into my local store.

The stock levels are bad, they never move out of the way for customers and for some reason they always play their own music super loud over the store music (mostly Taylor Swift over the summer). There’s often no one at the counter so there will be a wait for anything requiring an ID.

Feels like the store is not being respected by its staff and since it’s the original co op store it’s a shame they don’t have a better attitude towards making the shop a nice experience for customers.

I do appreciate the security on the other hand.

Leaving this review in hopes Co-op will do something to improve the store so we can all have a better experience. Everyone local says the same.

I adore the convenience of having this co-op right next to my apartment, but each visit is a bit of a challenge. The constant presence of staff stocking shelves can be overwhelming, especially in such a compact store. Moreover, the large pallets of stock obstructing the aisles not only hinder access to products but also pose a hazard. It would greatly enhance the shopping experience if these issues were addressed promptly to ensure a safer and more accessible environment for all customers.

As the OG Co-op, it’s a place packed full of happy memories. You can feel the ghosts of shopping basket’s past on your shoulders as you browse the shelves. Banging bananas - deliciously ripe. Banging grapes. Haven’t opened the fizzy water yet but I’m sure it’ll be banging.

Rude, inconsiderate security.

Stopped for a brief moment just after exiting the tills, as I was struggling to zip up my bag. Was asked to move along - though there was no one behind but a lady stuck at the till waiting for assistance! I only needed seconds to sort out my bag!

Most of the time it's fine to bring your dog. But today a rude security told me dogs are not allowed. Or you make more clear your rules on the door or you are going to start to lose customers

Great store. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Loving the discounts, and the way the are enforcing social distancing is really good. Would be nice if you got some cheese sandwiches in, I love 'em!

A great shop and even better staff! I often go into the coop at Ancoats when out and about in the city centre. Every time I’ve been in, I’ve been greeted with well-stocked shelves and helpful staff who have no problem helping find products, moving any queues through quickly and, during the lockdown situations, controlling customer numbers and enforcing social distancing rules without fault. I also think the modern look to the store and sleek concrete floors make the shopping experience that little bit better - even applying the same industrial décor to my flat after liking it so much. All-in-all, a great shop with everything you could need for a city centre store!

It's really not a good store. The stock levels are really poor, and I often find myself leaving with less than two thirds of what I was after because the shelves are empty. Even if you find what you're after, the likelihood is that a staff member has abandoned a stock trolly in front it.

Apart from one lady who works there, I don't think I've had a positive interaction with any of the staff. It's a shame, I worked for Co-Op for a number of years and I know how much they push friendly, community focused stores, but it fails miserably here. They don't even achieve the basics of having a couple of local products on offer, as what they do have is barely ever in stock. I've seen a Shindigger beer in once in a year.

I was excited when I saw that we were getting a Co-Op in the area eighteen or so months ago, but, now that it's a reality, the excitement was misplaced. It's a really poor example of what are usually good stores.
