Asda Donnington Wood Superstore

A mere shadow of the former glory days (2008 - 2012). Staff looked harassed and overworked, most of them roped into picking for home shopping orders. Stock levels hit and miss and barely any staff around to help. In the past, if a customer asked for a particular item, they would be taken to it. They would then be asked if there was anything else they required. This is certainly not the case any more. Customers are almost seen as an inconvenience these days. The customer service desk has been lumped in with the kiosk. Customer service has already hit rock bottom, this unnecessary rearrangement has been as much help as a chocolate teapot. If you are shopping and need the bathroom, you must negotiate the security barriers to get there. Most inconvenient, considering that the majority of customers are law abiding and honest. There are so few manned checkouts open these days, it seems. It seems Asda is facing financial ruin.

I visited around 12:30pm. I had an issue with a van driver in the car park. An Asda colleague came he acted calmly and reassuring. Unfortunately the van driver was rude to both the Asda Colleague and myself. All was sorted , I would like to thank the kind Asda Colleague for his presence, kindness and reassuring manner. Thank you

Visited the store today to buy pudsey clothes for my children for children in need was lucky and found all the items I needed in their size although one set was missing the bottoms of the set I didn’t mind and was willing to pay the full price. The assistant at the till was trying to be helpful and called her supervisor to ask if they could take money off as the set was not complete. The supervisor was extremely rude and insisted she couldn't sell the set as it was not complete even though I repeatedly said I didn’t care that it wasn’t complete and would pay full price for the item. I can’t understand why you would refuse the sale when I said I would pay the full price. I then had to travel to 2 other Asda stores to find something for my son to wear that was then to big but was all you had left. The Wrekin retail store assistant couldn’t understand why the item wouldn’t be sold either when I explained what had happened at your store.

Normally, I don't like to complain. But today at the Asda store in Donnington, close to Telford, the checkout lady treated me quite rudely. I was in a good mood after finishing work until I got to the checkout. I've always shopped at Asda, and never experienced this level of rudeness at the checkout before. I will be shopping elsewhere going forward. Some staff could benefit from re-training. You've just lost a loyal customer.

Wife asked a member of staff for a price on some reduced clothes, in store this morning. She was advised by the self scan to go to customer service. Staff at customer service was on her own, and asked her to go and find a member of George clothing so too busy to help! We won't bother going back again.

Asda, its very simply, I just want to spend my hard earnt cash with you, and take advantage of your great 25% off wines offer and stock up for Xmas. Unfortunately, the guy that stacks the shelves in the alcohol department at the Donnington branch is off sick, and according to management, nobody else is spare to replace him, resulting in a lack of available wine being placed on the shelves. Asda please get your act together, it's been 3 weeks now, and each week the shelves are just empty.

Don’t be fooled by the ‘24 hour’ opening as they don’t advertise or tell you that the upstairs closes at 10pm. Not at all helpful when it’s specifically homeware you travel for. The upstairs ramp is blocked by a cage so you walk around to the back to get the lift and it has a wet paint barrier. Then you walk round to find a member of staff to ask how to get to the homeware to then be told it closes at 10. It needs putting in the ‘opening hours’ info online and perhaps a notice board at the bottom of the ramps telling the customers it’s closed so we don’t waste more time wondering around the store clueless.

I was selected for a Security check (yet again!) with my toddler in tow. The staff member proceeded to ask me to hold, replace or move items while they carried out the check. A total lack of awareness that seems to be consistent with the lack of customer care provided by Asda. Furthermore, asking me whether the child juice bottle, (which is well worn and full with liquid) 'was mine' is frankly pathetic. I tend to use scan and go for convenience when pushing a pram around but 9/10 times adds stress when items don't scan and I seem to get security checked constantly.
