We took our granddaughter to Basingstoke Build a Bear today for a birthday treat. The staff were lovely from start to finish. The range of bears was good, we were shown the birthday bear first, which you pay the age of the birthday recipient. In our case this would have been £5.00, which makes a special treat very accessible if you don't go in for all the additions, beating heart ect.
We chose a different bear, but appreciated the offer. It's not cheap if you do add on an outfit & accessories, which we did, but really lovely for a special occasion. Our granddaughter enjoyed making her bear a birth certificate, and she chose a sound to go inside. We skipped the beating heart & scent, but she still got a little soft heart to put in and the member of staff who did this was really engaging with our granddaughter.
We probably won't go again, unless another grandchild wants to go for their birthday, but given the different ages it's unlikely. That said we feel we made some memories today, and the bear will be treasured. Highly recommend.

Ive always had good experiences here, but today me and my friend came in and were looking at the bear options they had, via pulling them out of the bin and then making sure to put them back neatly in order. We were being quiet and respectful, and even made sure other teddies we had not touched were lined up. While doing this, a blonde worker with glasses and a low ponytail asked us if we were looking for anything in particular. We said no, and that we were just browsing, as we were planning to each get a bear. She then asked us ‘not to just pick them up and leave them all over and make a mess, they’re in a line for a reason’. We were quite caught off guard as we were clearly being respectful and putting them back in place, and promptly left without buying anything due to feeling unwelcomed. Its a shame 🙁 The other female worker was really nice though!

Had the loveliest, fluffiest date night getting a bear with my girlfriend. The young lady who served us - I think her name was Lauren - was so fun, so enthusiastic. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

My 9-year-old daughter and her friends all enjoyed the Build-a-Bear Birthday party. The hostess was friendly and helpful and managed to keep 6 kids entertained for over an hour. It was not cheap but all kids got a lovely bear toy at the end of it. We booked the Awesome Adventure party package.

Hats off to Kaya and the team from Build a bear Basingstoke.
Kaya in particular made the whole planning to come as well as the main birthday event for five 11year olds so fun and memorable!
She had sooo much patience with a group of very!!!! indecisive girls.. Some of the teddies had multiple outfit changes before the perfect one was found.
Kaya supported the girls with a lot of expertise on making choices and the bear naming and picking a heart ceremony was very sweet!
Kaya is a true asset to such a nice store and her company.
I hope she gets the recognition she deserves!
We look forward to another visit soon!

super happy. amazing and friendly staff, didn’t feel out of place or unwelcome even as an adult. good selection of bears and clothing, and lots of new releases there.

It still has the old buildabear workshop appearance, definitely super nostalgic even though they don’t have the bathtub anymore.

It was a bit aimless for a while, as I wasn’t quite sure how to go about getting it stuffed etc, but figured it out after a bit and followed the crowd.

I had a great experience here today while shopping for my boyfriend (who is currently very unwell in hospital)

Emily helped me to pick out the perfect bear, record my personalised sound and added the perfect amount of stuffing for extra cuddliness. I picked out some cute outfits and then headed over to do my certificate, which Jamie helped me with.

Very friendly and helpful staff, and really appreciated the help and smiles at this stressful time. Thank you ❤️

I was a bit disappointed with our first visit to build a bear. We didn’t know what the process was and had to wait a few minutes to see someone as there was only one member of staff. Also apart from the filling we had to do everything else ourselves and considering the price you’d expect to be guided round. Quality of products is excellent but didn’t deliver the wow factor I expected.
