I can't believe the negative reviews either! I've always found the staff helpful and friendly. Best bread for miles. They always have what's needed, even in a pandemic. Good little post office too and easy parking.

Rude dirty dusty shop have put complaint in with food and hygiene due to out off date items that i bought and they refused to refund ie fresh food bag off pottos and tins

This is a great local shop, clean and well stocked. The fresh bread amazing and having used the shop regularly for the past five years I have always found the staff to be very polite and extremely friendly which is why like the last reviewer my experience of the shop tends to question the legitimacy of the poor reviews and is the reason for posting my good review.

I am an ex member of the Lydbrook community once living in central Lydbrook. The village shop there run by Phil is in my opinion the best village shop in Gloucestershire let alone the Forest of Dean.
All produce is locally sourced and the little bakery there has the best bread cakes rolls and much more and is the best tasting iv ever had.
There is nothing you can't get in Phils village shop.
The staff are always extremely helpful and if they haven't got what you want you only have to tell Phil and he will get it for you. I can not praise the shop enough, it is a place that has everything including a quaint little post office.
I used to live in the old china shop so i was very lucky to have the shop literally right on my doorstep.
And if you are like me and you like fresh crusty bread then you absolutely have to try the bread at Central Stores Lydbrook.

I cannot believe these negative reviews are actually real.
The shop is extremely clean, with a great range of goods.
The staff were really friendly and helpful.
Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the Forest.
