Clare Ancient House, Clare

The Museum is only open weekends and Bank holidays from 12 to 4.The star rating is for The Ancient House next door which we rented for 4 days.

Looking sorry for itself an old clay building with wooden beams and low ceilings that houses a nice little museum with an exhibition collection of a little bit of everything with friendly senior volunteer curators

Incredibly welcoming staff and a beautiful building that tells the story of Clare really well. It's a very small museum and the information boards are very dense and packed with information, however there are a lot of artefacts interspersed and well laid out so I don't see it as a problem. They have some great digital displays of Clare

The best village In Suffolk to visit and the Clare ancient house is small but most Interesting places to see how life in Suffolk was once lived. But there are many places to visit within the most beautiful small village and to even have a nice Sunday dinner at too. The Bell hotel does a quote nice lunch as does the cook inn with a lovely beer Garden to relax in with a few good friend or with your Family. Good beer and wine with fine food. Cannot be a bad thing to to on a Sunday and them visit some interesting places as well.

Steeped in history with lots of original features. Timber framed building which has warped with time. 2 up 2 down accommodation so limited to singles and couples to hire through the Landmark Trust. Recommended.

A fascinating insight into this delightful Market Town. The amount of information and wonderful slide display of old photos will compliment your visit to this charming little Town. The Ancient House, that also houses the Museum is a delight in itself.

Excellent little museum. Entry is £1, and there is plenty of high quality information on Clare, plus a good amount of local stories and insights.

Excellent local museum with lots of items and information packed into a small space. Staff were very helpful and knowledgeable.
