I have family visiting and so my 32 year old and 26 year old stepbdaughters, went to get wine and beer on 13th December at around 5pm. The elder stepdaughter chose everything and went to the counter to pay. They were both then challenged for ID, to which the 32 year old responded that she didn't have any on her but was 32. Your customer service colleague then asked if the 26 year old had any ID. To which she replied no but she hadn't touched the alcohol and nor was she paying. Your staff member then said it doesn't matter, I have asked and you don't have any and so I can't serve you. To be fair they said no problem and Tesco got their money instead. On getting home thry said your staff member was a young girl and seemed to be on a power trip. Both have stated that given the embarrassment caused, that they won't be going back and given how they were treated neither will my wife or I. Coop must be making vast sums, to turn away sales like this. Poor service all round.

Rude staff. Went in at just before 7pm. Lights were on, doors were wide open but when I walked in one of them just shouted "we're closed" and glared at me without saying anything else until I left. This was my first visit to this Co-op since moving to Bowburn a few weeks ago, and it will be my last.

Great New Coop Friendly Helpful staff to replace old closed down store on Prince Charles Avenue. Great location easy access with Disabled parking bays in car park bike railings for to chain bikes to. Car park is at rear with entry via Claring Street and exit out onto Crow Trees Lane. It is a Great, Modern, and Spacious layout. It is less hemmed in than old store.

AN IMPORTANT UPDATE AFTER RECENT VISIT ( SEE PART 2 )

Saw a fish,chips and iced cream offer that looked great but with no fish pieces available. I was crestfallen !! In steps the widely regarded figure of Laura sporting one of those Beyonce head sets. There's more fish due in over the weekend - I'll put some aside for you. What a lovely friendly offer ! I returned a few days later eager to clinch the deal only to be advised by helpful Bev that there was still no sign of the fish ,! My last attempt was on the following Wednesday. A huge lorry was blocking the car park . Had to park down a side street but surely this meant that the fish had arrived safely
Not so fast! Not yet unloaded !. Now Gloria stepped in to deliver the final like for like solution. I could get boxed fish fingers instead of the fish fillets to make up the order. I hadn't had fish fingers since I was a bairn. I'll take anything to claim this fiver deal I thought !
Returned from the freezer with boxes of 10 fish fingers. Only boxes of 8 allowed said Gloria . Ok you win I replied !! As an unexpected bonus I met their charming colleague Michelle out with her fantastic Grandma Ann who takes daily walks past my house. I'd never seen Michelle at the local store before but she told me she worked late shifts and was responsible for escorting old folks and skateboarders off the premises at 10pm !!

PART 2 ....Friday 20/1/23

Have just returned from doing a little bit of top - up shopping using the offers selected earlier in the week.
Co ops own milk was one of them. As I was loading 2 × 4pint plastic containers of milk, Into my bag it somehow capsized and both containers crashed to the floor !
One was battered but essentially unharmed. The other, however was ruptured beyond all recognition and as I stood back in shock a mobile , white reservoir of milk ran along the floor under the level of the counter. Surprisingly I didn't get flustered of upset and neither did Marie who was attempting to serve this clumsy, ageing individual !
I must compliment Marie on her quick thinking in deserting her post and mopping up immediately. What was more impressive and for which I was particularly grateful was her kind and consoling attitude towards me and basically taking everything on her stride. She even finished off my sentence ....It reminds you of the saying ... yo which she replied .. don't cry over spilt milk !! Thought I'd been introduced to most of the Co op family until today. Where have you been hiding Marie ?
Naturally I had felt a fool in front of of other customers but Marie couldn't have done more to tidy up and at the same time put me at ease before kindly showing me the way home !

Met another two helpful members of never - ending Co - op family this evening. Fancied my favourite pizza ( Texan chicken but got off to a bad start ... young girl , NICHOLA , with Beyoncé headset ( have used that one before ... at least I like it !! ). She confirmed my alternative choice of a plain cheese and tomato🍕 as probably the best compromise. She's aid she bought loose pepperoni as a garnish ... I've fallen out of love with the strong pepperoni flavour.
Proceeded to bag just a small minor shop today and reminded Dawn . ( how did I remember her name now ... oh aye ! DAWN on the NIGHT shift !!
Some exhilarating craic about Rubicon juice being de - listed followed !
Dawn advised I addressed the powers that be to get his item reinstated for the future but as I explained to her I could buy a 4 pack for a fiver in Tesco.
Now Dawn , great chat and service but no more talk of you being a little person ! Corner shops employ wonderful, salt of the earth characters who know exactly how best to treat their customers .
