This has been my local shop for the past 5 and a half years and to say the service here has declined is an understatement.
Firstly, waiting in a queue at the kiosk so the lady could finish her conversation with her friend. When it was my turn I greeted her with a smile and asked if I could have a carrier bag. The lady completely ignored me and did not make any eye contact.
Then I was asked to present ID for calpol, bearing in mind I had my baby with me whom was unsettled as she was teething. I did not have this with me as I had lost my purse with my bank cards and ID. To add insult to injury, I am over 25 and have been using this supermarket weekly if not daily since buying a house 5 years ago in the local area and had previously got to know a lot of the staff. I was also clutching my car keys which does this not suggest I am over 16? It seemed like this particular lady was doing all she could to make our lives difficult and had no respect for her customers. And yes, according to the co op website you need to be over 16 to buy calpol.
Honestly, if you don’t need to shop here don’t. This is just one instance as to why they have gone down hill, it’s clear the Co op values aren’t followed here. I can’t wait to move and no longer have this as my local supermarket.

Loved to see they have introduced return refill repeat concept. Refill stations will help to reduce plastic and will make the world a better place.

Attended today at around 5:05/5:15 Saturday 9th March 2024 and was met with an extremely rude woman behind the counter. (Asian lady, Aged roughly 45/65) Who had asked me and my friend for Identification whilst attempting to purchase Wine and flowers for Mother’s Day. Upon us both showing her ID and her giving it back just as she was about the approve the authorisation on the self checkout she called me back over for a seconds look at my Identification again (im 23) so not like there would be a possible discrepancy with my date of birth to which I had muttered ā€œfor god sakeā€ under my breath as I’m sure many will understand being ID’d is very infuriating much more when it happens twice for the same purchase just because she perhaps did not read properly. She then went on some form of attempted power trip and said that unless I apologise for ā€œswearing at herā€ she will not be authorising our purchase to which I of course am not going to apologise to a worker for mumbling something to myself even though I still complied with her request to see my ID again.
Then 2 Boys came over to ask what the problem was and once explained they agreed with us but said they couldn’t authorise the purchase as it was up to her behind the till. So we said we will just shop elsewhere and as we were leaving she shouted ā€œstupid white boysā€. This is extremely racist and should not be tolerated and I will be taking this up further with management as she does not deserve to keep her job after this appalling incident and I will further be referring people through social media/family and friends to stay away from this store until she is dealt with as not a single member of staff stepped in this racism is clearly accepted by the franchise but I’m sure if the tables were turned and we had spouted out such profanity there would be criminal proceedings for racially aggravated hate speech.

Been coming here for years but as other reviewers have commented, don’t bother trying to buy alcohol if you have your 15 year old daughter with you - they assume you’re buying it for them and want ID from everyone who is with you. Manager couldn’t even be bothered to come and speak to me!! 1 star is too much for this visit!
Went to spend my money at Sainsburys instead!

Absolutely appalling service from the manager that is currently on now 8.7.23 at 9:30pm and the staff with him.

I had missing items from my delivery, when I phoned the first time the person on the phone said they would be sent out again. After 50 minutes, I ring back for a different person to tell me he will deal with it tomorrow, then to phone up coop shop when I asked why I needed to do that he said he would get the manager. The 'manager' came on the phone then pretended he couldn't hear me, when I rang back, the 'manager' picked up the phone and then hung up. He did this for the next 4 calls I made and nobody picked up.

A few issues with the delivery service. Last time items I needed that night were missing, and they said they would be sent that night. I waited in all evening and they never turned up. This time it hasn't turned up at all and the store is now closed. Now I'm inconvenienced as I don't drive so have to try to find somewhere that's open on foot.

Same friendly and helpful staff now work in a store that has finally had a much needed makeover. The result is a big improvement in both range of choice and overall shopping experience. Best of all, this store has always managed to be Covid-secure without ruining the shopping experience and treating customers like modern day lepers.
