Costcutter Supermarkets Group is an embarrassment to Newton Abbot. They are operating the town's main post office under contract from Post Office Ltd. Due to an oppressive working culture, most of the post office staff have recently resigned, forcing the post office to effectively close, except for the small post office counter on the main shop counter. Costcutter took on the contract from the post office with an agreement that they would provide adequate post office services to the people of Newton Abbot. They have not done this and now have a post office which is open from 9 am to 3 pm and only has 1 temporary counter, which is not fit for purpose. Costcutter has taken a 7-counter post office down to a single counter and does not have staff to operate it. With Christmas coming, avoiding this store would be a good idea. As a matter of urgency, Post Office Ltd needs to strip Costcutter of their contract and find new premises in Newton Abbot to operate from as this cannot be allowed to go on.

This convenience store is the main post office for Newton abbot good for all groceries and a quick snack.Extremly busy on Mondays.Expect long queues Mon mornings(pension day)

Cannot praise this store enough..when I had called all other stores local to myself to get hold of an urgent need to keep our electric supply ..EDF were no use as all.. a lovely lady called Star ..called me back and supplied what I needed .she didn't have to do this and if I could I would supply her with over a 100 stars for excellent customer servic and her genuine caring nature... Thank you Star ... You are an actual ⭐...

The shopping is much better especially now the CO OP company have taken it over. A much better variety of food stuff. We are enjoying the shopping experience. A good move now that the market town is improving its availability. The CO OP shop is well positioned at the other end of the town which is what you observe when you first enter the town. It might be better if its advertised as a CO OP store not a Costcutter store which was not selling the variety of excellent food stuff at competitive prices that the CO OP store is providing. The Post Office staff are always friendly and helpful.The Cost Cutter staff are always in uniform and polite. The shop has a reasonably good selection for a convience store. Great stuff.
