We were so very pleased with our stay and will definitely make another booking. We loved all of the details. The rooms was beautifully decorated, we had a little peice of cake in the room waiting for us which was just what we needed after a long journey. The room was really cosy and very pretty. The eco shampoos were appreciated too.

Our meal as really scummy, beautifully presented and the extra touches to the meal made it memorable. Definitely one of the nicest meals we've had out. The service was excellent too, we could tell the staff enjoyed working there. We loved the calmness off the surroundings, there was no loud music, just the gentle chatter of guests and a crackling fire, which was really refreshing.

We enjoyed reading all of the art and history books in the rooms and around the hotel, we got to know the surroundings and this helped us appreciate our stay. The staff were happy to answer the many questions we had, everyone was very friendly.

I managed to get up in the morning and run to The sculpture on the beach about 1.5 miles away. With a beautiful sunset and great path it was a brilliant journey. I came back to a lovely breakfast which again, was perfect.

I really couldn't recommend this hotel enough, we will look forward to coming back again.

I stayed at the Dolphin Inn for two nights and had a really pleasant experience. The place was clean, comfortable, and had a welcoming atmosphere. The staff were friendly and attentive, always ready to help with anything I needed. My room was cosy and well maintained, and I appreciated the quiet, relaxing environment after a long day. The location was also convenient, with easy access to nearby attractions and amenities. Overall, it was a great stay ,I’d happily return and definitely recommend the Dolphin Inn to others.

We were extremely happy with our Sunday dinner of roast beef. Very well cooked and piping hot. Bravo! However, the crumble for dessert although tasty, was lukewarm and served with custard that tasted as if it came from a packet and was made with water. Such a letdown after an outstanding roast.

Review is for a meal at the Dolphin on 8 September 2025.
Called at lunchtime to try to book for a meal for 6 people at 7.30 that evening. Had to leave a voicemail which I expected to have to follow up myself, but got a call back within 20 minutes to confirm that the table would be fine. Then I called back at about 6.30 to change the booking to be for 10 people. Despite the short notice, this was no problem for them.
Food was fantastic - recommend that you try some of the 'nibbles' menu if you're in a group and happy to share, although the starters were also good. Main courses were excellent - steak came Rare as requested, burger was well received, seabass was cooked very well, linguine was excellent.
Beers and food were good. Service was great. Highly recommended

This is a review of the restaurant only.

Booked Sunday lunch here for a group of 6. Well looked after and the food was fab. Everyone enjoyed their roasts and the crumble that came with. I'd have preferred it if there had been an option beyond just beef and pork but nonetheless was very tasty. Accompanied by a nice red. Lovely setting and glad it lived up to the expectations set by friends of mine that had been before.

Booked for Sunday lunch and good job we did as the garden and restaurant was heaving. We only had to wait a short time before being seated in the dog friendly bar. Initially our table was squished in the corner but we asked if we could move to one of the other 2 reserved tables with more space and thankfully we could. Drinks order taken which did take longer than usual as guests from the garden appeared to be given priority over those that had booked. That said we weren't in a hurry and just sat back and relaxed. Mains order placed, two roast beef which arrived quite quickly as we could see how exceptionally busy the staff were and felt extremely sorry for them. The mains were delicious. For pudding we plumped for the rhubarb and berry crumbles with custard which was a lovely combination. |We did leave a large tip as the staff definitely deserved it. A massive thank you as eaten here many times and never been disappointed.

Came here for Sunday lunch. They do roast and a crumble for £21.95 (not sure if you can just get a roast by itself but if you do it’s not advertised or on the menu).
It’s a nice pub with a good dining room. Staff were friending enough although seemed a little rushed. The beef roast dinner was ok although nothing special. Beef itself was overcooked for my liking, definitely on the well done side of things. The crumble felt like it had been sitting out for a while and was average.
My daughter had the kids grilled fish and chips. A very good size portion and well cooked. Good value for £8.75. The kids chocolate brownie with ice cream was small and dry and not good value for £6.
Would try again for the normal menu but wouldn’t rush back for Sunday roast.

Our experience of eating at the Dolphin inn this week was disappointing. The service and staff were great as was the adnams ale but the food was average at best. I had the seafood platter, the prawns were not as fresh as I would have expected, the salad was over dressed and the butter was rock solid and unspreadable on the lovely soft granary bread. My partner had the vegetarian option and said it lacked flavour and substance.
