Went to downtown to look at the Christmas display today. The shop itself is ok. Good selection of items and staff friendly and welcoming. This is our second visit.

The reason I have knocked off two stars is the cafe. The food is reasonable and staff friendly. But the service is inexplicably slow. All the checkout staff do is TAKE orders. Why each customer seems to take 15 minutes to order is beyond me. In the end I didn’t bother ordering food as we were ready to go home. Coffee arrived a bit slowly but something is very wrong with the ordering system and how long it takes. It has certainly put us off ever going into the cafe again. The queue was not that long when we arrived. It took 25 minutes to place an order. Why I’d hate to see it at its peak busy level.

Good time had.
Garden centre amazing with Christmas displays plenty to buy. Loved the Christmas owl. Had lunch in garden centre restaurant staff brilliant food excellent.

You can shop for most things here. Good clothing selection for men which makes a difference. Very good cafe/restaurant down and upstairs. Toilets very smart condition. Plenty of free parking. There may be charging for ev's but didn't see any.

Staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. They could not be more helpful. It makes a change to speak to a shop assistant with enough intelligence and professionalism to take the time to help.It's a real pleasure to shop there. (The restaurant would only get 3 stars though.)

Not empress very expensive here. Had a breakfast mushroom, the eggs and hash browns where very cold. Had a pot of tea this leaked all over the table when filling the cup. I wouldn't recommend.

Exceptional service from the bed department. Called in on a Monday morning to discuss a fault in a mattress I had for only 5 months. Within 24 hours the suppliers had been contacted, and a replacement offered. Was kept informed at every step by really friendly staff. They couldn’t have done more and I am delighted that it wasn’t a long drawn out process. Well done Service department.

Never fails to deliver. Was looking for 2 birthday presents, albeit different ladies of different ages but with so much to choose from it was an easy shopping experience. The staff are the most helpful people on this planet and nothing g phases them. The shop and facilities were ad spotless as ever. I'll be back!

First time visiting the cafe today

I had a free day to look around the Downtown store today, and noticed the cafe wasn’t too busy.

The store seems to have changed a little since my last visit, and with lots of walking around looking for nice gift items, the cafe was a much needed moment to rest.

The bacon, brie and mango chutney panini was well sized and l very tasty.
The cafe was cozy and clean and the staff were polite.
Definitely a great stop off point before continuing my day.

Will make sure to visit again to try other items on the menu when I have more spare time.
