Firstly I have to make clear that the restaurant manageress understood what a terrible experience we had here and did not accept any payment for the food, although we did eat only a little of it.
We booked as a group of 6 to celebrate my wife's birthday with her family. On entering we were put off to begin with by the dated and odd surroundings - with a trendy name such as 'Fitzy's Restaurant' it was not at all what we expected. It had a 1980s feel about it - certainly the high backed dark faux leather chairs were popular in that era. They felt that old too, no longer having padding in the seat. Some of us tried changing but they were no different.
After a 40 minute wait and a reminder to the bar staff 5 of our 6 starters eventually arrived. The manageress herself brought the missing one a few minutes later apologising. She then saw for herself that the food was not cooked - the crumbed coating being hot but the centre stone cold. Clearly an error with the microwave.
Meanwhile my wife was served her chicken wings covered in a thick gooey sauce, not something to attempt to eat with a knife and fork. When asked for a finger bowl a waitress arrived with a bowl containing no water. Fawlty Towers at it's best. It became clear that none of the waiters were trained - not having the skills or knowledge required to work in a restaurant. Nothing was offered by any of them - everything that is usually on the table had to be requested such as salt, vinegar, ketchup. Not once were we asked if there was anything we needed.
The menu on the day bore no resemblance to the sample menu published on the restaurant's website which was the reason we chose it hsving two vegetarians in the group. As it turned out they had a choice of a pasta with a tomato sauce, or cheese and onion pie, obviously again microwave meals. Tiny pieces of overcooked pie were served with a few chunky 'chips'. Our great niece was served undercooked, gristly chicken in her burger which we did not allow her to eat. Our great nephew ordered a side dish of garlic bread which arrived as a small slice of bread cut in two with a spreading of garlic butter. This was an extra for £6 ! He then ate his first chip to find a hair on the plate underneath.
It was at this point we all gave up to return home to order a takeaway.
My wife and I, both in our mid 70s have eaten in many restaurants around the UK and around the world when travelling. We can honestly say that this was our very worst experience in any restaurant.

Lovely food served on this visit. Staff helpful & friendly particularly Molly who is your restaurant & bar manager. Sorry to hear she is leaving & a loss to the Lavender Hotels as good staff should be recognised more.

I visited Fitzy’s at the Trapp for dinner with my partner and we had a lovely experience. The restaurant is located in a beautiful country hotel with stunning views of the Pendle countryside. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was cosy and romantic.

We ordered from the festive menu, which had a good variety of dishes to choose from. I had the smoked salmon pate for starter, which was smooth and flavourful, served with toasted focaccia and lemon olive oil. My partner had the breaded brie wedges, which were crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside, accompanied by a tangy orange and cranberry compote.

For the main course, we both opted for the traditional roasted turkey with all the trimmings. The turkey was moist and tender, the stuffing was savoury and herbaceous, and the gravy was rich and smooth. The roasted potatoes were crispy and fluffy, and the seasonal vegetables were fresh and crunchy. The highlight of the dish was the bacon wrapped chipolata, which added a nice smoky and salty touch.

We were too full for dessert, but we couldn’t resist the strawberries and cream cheesecake, which was light and creamy, with a crunchy biscuit base and a sweet strawberry gel. It was the perfect way to end our meal.

We were very impressed by the quality and quantity of the food, and the reasonable price of the menu. We paid £24 per person for a three-course meal, which was a great value for money. We also enjoyed the selection of cask ales and fine wines, which complemented our food well.

We would definitely recommend Fitzy’s at the Trapp to anyone looking for a cosy and festive dining experience in Burnley. The restaurant offers a great service, a delicious food, and a stunning view.

Useless. We booked a table for 6, important guests from the USA. It took 4 calls to make the reservation. Tried twice to book a meal for 2 as a try-out but refused as they were fully booked. As the menu look OK we let the booking stand. THREE DAYS BEFORE THE DATE THEY CANCELLED, BY EMAIL. No phone call, no explanation, noapology. Won't try again. Would prefer zero star rating but this site won't accept it.

This used to be a really plush smart restaurant that served fairly pricey but very good food. I guess it's not as good as it used to be in terms of the decor but the food is still a really good standard. We went as a party of six for the two people two courses for £22 and thoroughly enjoyed it. The maitre de was excellent if not a little harassed as the kitchen was taking a while to get the orders out. They were busy and had a wedding on too. So all in all very good and a special thanks to the maitre de who looked after everyone with polite and gracious professionalism.
