The gentleman that served me for the air con check at Ilkeston was very polite and genuine. He was unable to diagnose the problem for definite which is fine as I understand it being a complex job and not something that is easily done in a car park. However, I took the car to my mechanic and he informed me that the headlight had not been put back in correctly and it could have fallen out at any time ! I was absolutely appalled when he informed me of this, I understand it is a free service but this is seriously dangerous and it does not fill me with confidence at all! Luckily, the service & MOT was only a few days after and I didn’t do a lot of miles but I feel the gentleman should be made aware of this and perhaps the office should give more time if needed to ensure everything is ok.

Popped in yesterday as a headlight I’d had fitted a couple of months back at a Halfords near Birmingham had already failed. I didn’t have my receipt, just my bank statement confirming a payment to Halfords in November. After talking this through with the staff, they checked and replaced the bulb and honoured the warranty even though technically I didn’t have my receipt. Very impressed with this level of customer service which is getting rare these days.

Ordered new battery; it was very easy to order online. Site says ready within 1 hour, but messaged around 30 mins saying it was ready. Arrived, simply up to the desk, gave my name, and brought to me, in and out in less than 5 minutes.

I bought an Halfords' car cover on line which went great, discount and next day delivery. The cover seems good and I went by the size guide which suggested going for a size larger. It was way too big. I tried half a dozen ways to contact Halfords; chat line (live busy), phone No.s all diverted to someone who put me on hold for 15mins, I eventually hung up.
Finally decided to make the trip to Ilkeston and actually speak to someone. The lad on the checkout was brilliant listened to the problem and exchanged it for a smaller size.
Very helpful but surprised they didn't stock a windscreen washer pump but he suggested I use a motor factor's.
Smaller cover fits perfectly despite size guide saying it was too short and not long enough. Cashier had suggested I try it and if it was too small I could come back for the larger one. Good service finally.
You can't beat the personal touch, ditch the infuriating, automated stuff.
