Outstanding family butcher. After complaining how hard it was to find the traditional Cumberland spiral sausages these days, they very kindly offered to have some made. Absolutely amazing, best ever, made an exquisite meal. Previously sampled their sausage rolls, Scotch Eggs and feta and spinach pastries which were also worth writing home about.

Fantastic produce, cut fresh to suit. Plenty of lovely produce on show, much of it locally farmed. I wanted a beef rib joint for Xmas, which they didn't have immediately available, so they happily arranged to have one for me, which I picked up yesterday. Looks amazing

We ordered a beef wellington for New Year’s Eve which I collected and froze on the 22nd December. The wellington was absolutely outstanding, best we’ve ever had. All made on site with such care and fabulous produce.

Jon Howell family butchers has to be the best butchers for miles around. We have been using them for many years and always the meat is exceptional. Jon is a master at his profession and knowledgeable in every aspect of butchery. Jon and Lorraine are always friendly and make you feel important if you're buying just an excellent pasty of scotch egg or a joint for sunday roast. Can not recommend highly enough.

Friendly, helpful and great quality meat. Great that they do fish orders. Didn't see any organic meat, but you can't have everything.

Having a dog (and one who does not like being left outside shops on her own), I find the on-street serving window especially helpful. Even chatted to me one day when my bus didn't turn up and I had a two-hour wait for the next one.

Superb choice of cuts etc, well presented and excellent quality. A nice friendly shop, reminiscent of days gone by with a smile and great service. We'll be back to stock up the freezer, the forerib looked fantastic.

Great service.....and even greater sausages....last week I had the Toulouse ones ...absolutely gorgeous....this week trying the Wild boar ........local butchers...so give them a whirl ...they also sell an assortment of spices to get the best out of your meat ..?
