Having visited The Old Tannery twice, once in the summer and again shortly before Christmas, it is apparent that the restaurant oozes a quirky, colourful and musical atmosphere appropriate for Glastonbury, however there doesn't appear to be a great focus on the food.

I haven't yet eaten a plate of food from The Old Tannery that has wowed me. In fact, in the two occasions I visited and five courses I ordered, I didn't finish a single plate. On the menu, the food choices sounded great, different and interesting, but upon eating it felt like a chore.
However, those who chose to order burgers and steaks had no complaints about their food. Perhaps the restaurant could focus on these safer options.

Despite feeling deflated by the food, after passing my comments onto the staff they responded incredibly appropriately with a customer-forward mindset. No complaints about their attitude whatsoever.

Finally, we made the mistake of booking a table on the same day as a musical event which meant the servers were preoccupied with a crowd of people ordering drinks at the bar. They did very well to attend to our table in a timely manner, but there were clear signs that they were too busy, drinks not arriving to the table and extras ordered off the menu not being passed to the kitchen.
Relatedly, there is only so much parking avaliable, so during busy nights you risk parking your car in the road in a not so secure area.
Especially as I visited in the summer where there was no event on, the difference is clear.

If you have interest in attending The Old Tannery for a meal, I would advise taking the extra steps to ensure you are not doing so on a day an event is taking place.

Ultimately, I left feeling that the restaurant menu is more style over substance and perhaps could be simplified.
I hope to hear good things regarding The Old Tannery in future, but as it stands I won't be rushing back.

Had a great lunch in The Old Tannery- the service was very friendly, the food was delicious, and the drinks cold. Highly recommended and I’m looking forward to the revamped menu the staff told me was coming out soon, due to the change of ownership. I hope they continue to provide this great service! A+

First time visit. Went for Sunday roast.Small friendly restaurant/bar in the old tannery buildings.Booked the day before, staff were great very attentive. Had roast beef, it was very tender and soft. Enjoyed the meal my only gripes were it was expensive for what you get compared to what’s out there. Also they add 10% service charge ,you can remove it by asking.Service was a little slow and seated next to toilet door.I probably won’t go back.

Lovely relaxed place to grab a drink, food and to chill out.
We had Belgium Wheat beer and a session Pale Ale. They even cooked us some chips even though the kitchen was closed.
Dogs allowed.
Edit - just been back for a Sunday Roast. It is the BEST roast beef I have ever had.

Imagine a bunch of 7 people (myself and 6 cousins visiting me) getting up the Tor in the middle of a heatwave this July with nowhere familiar in Glastonbury to get them try their first Sunday roast ever (I'm Bristol based and had never tried one in Glasto). It's when I come across this place, decide to call at half 2 (with the wonderful Emma on the phone who I would tell you a little bit more about in a minute) and arrange a table really short time before the kitchen closes. We managed to get to the area on time, guess what...we got lost and finally had to call again (Emma, who I laughed lots with, kindly provided us indications to reach the entrance and get there 5 minutes before kitchen closure). When we got there, all the staff one by one and mainly Emma where unbelievable sweet, caring and kind with us from start to end (showing us around, taking to table, giving us enough time to choose, even asking for a little bit of bread, which is not usually served, and desserts). There's no words to describe the atmosphere in this place....and the food. What to say about the food other than delightful, definitely best beef I've ever tried in UK for a Sunday roast so far (and it's 10 years now) and delicious chicken and lamb (cause we tried it all). Other than that, I must point out the brownie as dessert and also...it could be currently showing as closed since they are rearranging a couple of licenses...but would definitely give it a call to double check.

We loved it all (one of the best 2 meals for my family in this week) and wish you all the best in this new stage (can imagine how good it was before too with previous owners). Take care guys 🙂

I booked a table for 10 people for an 80th birthday party. The venue were very helpful right from the start, allowing me to drop a cake and helium balloon off during the day. On arrival this balloon was duly on the table just as hoped.

Other venues I spoke to either wouldn’t allow a cake, or would allow a cake but then wouldn’t allow it to be actually eaten on their site. This venue had no such restrictions which was hugely appreciated.

As stated we would be a table of 10, other venues insisted on pre ordering; this venue had no such requirements which made everything a lot easier.

There is decent off street car parking, no steps into the building make access easy. Inside there is a large bar area right in front of you as you enter; the seating area is large and spacious with an outdoor area as well.

There is a large blackboard which proudly lists all the local farms and suppliers where their ingredients and food comes from which is a great touch showing they support local industry and independent suppliers.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming both during the day when I was dropping things off for the evening meal and during our actual booking.

The menu was great with a lot of options for gluten free, dairy free etc as well as all the standard fare you would expect. I had the sirloin steak which I had cooked medium, another of our party had it rare; both were beautifully prepared. My mother remarked we were not given steak knives, we didn’t need them the meat was so tender a normal knife was more than sufficient.

The food all round was stunning, there is a separate kids menu as well; they also have a variety of games and activities for children to do such as Jenga and colouring should children get bored.

For dessert I had the dark chocolate mousse which was again amazing quality! Loved it. My only slight criticism from the night was that service was quite slow; in mitigation we were a table of 10, we had not pre ordered and there were only 2 floor staff on. I think they were a little rushed doing the bar and the service.

The Birthday cake was also presented to the table by the staff for dessert, they provided plates and cutlery and even kicked off the happy birthday singing; a very nice touch!

Given staffing issues in the hospitality industry presently alongside the fact a lot of hospitality businesses have been struggling for profit since COVID began; I’m still awarding 5 stars for the overall experience which was excellent.

They do also have a large separate function room should you have a lot of guests.

Based on this experience I will certainly be back and would be totally confident in recommending you book this place for a meal, a coffee or a larger function. It should be noted they also open for breakfast and I certainly plan on attending soon!

We had a delicious roast dinner here on Sunday. We both had roast beef and we couldn’t fault any of it - plenty of meat and really tasty veg!
