The Ipswich and Colchester store managers really need to give their heads a wobble and cheer up. Treating a customer, that has a valid receipt like a criminal because I want to return a travel cot which I don't feel is fit for purpose isn't on. Their behaviour and attitude is out of order!
I tried to return the cot in Ipswich first and the nursery manager/deputy manager had the make whole experience an embarrassment. She took the cot out in store to check it then proceeded to struggle to put the thing together and get it to click in but because it's faulty it wouldn't easily. Eventually she done it and proceeded to tell us that there was nothing wrong with it although she struggled with it for the last 20 minutes and we explained we didn't want it anymore as we also bought a new one. But no she wouldn't let us return it.
So I tried Colchester and had 2 of them again miserable unfriendly, doing the same thing, on the floor trying desperately to put the thing up and one side wouldn't click in which eventually it did but again I explained I wasn't happy with it as a baby would be going in there and the thing collapses too easily but again they denied me to return and mentioned that they new I had been to the Ipswich branch and tried to return it there!! So what Is this against the law I'm trying to return a dodgy cot !!!
Total joke, it's a toy store, get some nice staff in these places that help customers

Chelsie was fantastic today with car seat information and did a fit check for a seat compatible with my awkward car! And gave info on my older child's seat too which educated me on what I didn't know so I am so grateful my children are now both in safe seats in both mine and my partner's car ... Hopefully this feedback will get to her 🙂

A very well laid out store with plenty of space to zoom about for those with mobility issues. The toys are grouped into interest categories and the stock goes right to the ceiling. I watched a staff member collect an enormous unicorn from high up for a customer. Another helpful staff member showed me where the toilet facilities were - very useful when you have little ones. They have everything from baby equipment and toys, to teenager 'toys' and beyond. The stock is well labelled and reasonably priced.

Disappointing experience at Smyths today, popped in to drop a significant amount of money on the new Lego Dungeons and Dragons Minifigures, and when asked if I could buy a box, the guy on tills was really snarky and unprofessional "There's a 3 item limit" wasn't helpful in the slightest or interested in keeping good relations with a long time customer.

It's really disappointing as this store used to be better but if you don't want to make a profit so be it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Plenty of choice for a 2 year old granddaughter. One piece of advice would be to have a cord running in front of stacked toys/boxes to prevent them toppling over. Especially at floor level and toys placed on pallets.

I just had to leave a comment because that's how disgusted I was after visiting the smiths store Ipswich.
There was a lady who was trained on the baby section , she was attending to a customer so I patiently waited around, she could obviously see me as I was standing close by. Another kind staff member asked if I needed help but when I said I needed help with the baby stuff she couldn't help as she wasn't trained although she still tried to help. She politely told the lady who was trained to let her know that I was waiting , she told her colleague no that she will not help me. I understand if she said something like "tell the customer il he with her shortly " but instead she just said no. Now I hate to be those kind of people who use the race card but it definitely felt that way , she was very rude and gave me dirty looks. I even had to complain to the manager in the store but unforgettable seemed a bit clueless himself and almost scared of that lady , so he didn't even apologise or make me feel at least acknowledged.
Definitely a horrible experience

We visited Ipswich Smyth's from a journey back from Essex we thought we would visit. We visited around 5pm and noticed some of the staff were just sitting around talking and one member of staff was on his private phone on a call sitting on the car seat which I found not very professional. My daughter wanted a DHL van toys and all the doors were broken and I told a staff member and he just was not bothered about it. The toys are a mess some chucked on the floor and especially the hot wheels section they were just off the shelf in a pile of mess. My local one is Norwich and they are more professional and more helpful and they respect there stock

Visited the store on Sunday, and the staff were extremely helpful. Hayley in particular was very informative and assisted me in my lack of bike knowledge.
