Soul Curry - Yarm

Had a vegetarian kofta curry with dumplings. Not hotly spiced but *super* delicious and hearty. Ate with chapati breads and a fruity Koppaberg cider. Wonderful.

Was rather quiet on a Weds evening - but also calm, which was good. Came in hungry and tired and left feeling full and refreshed. Recommended.

I visited with my friends for the first time. Decent ambience and friendly staff. Service was good and food was was presented well and decent in taste apart from starters. The starters were very oily, you can squeeze the oil out of it which was a bit of disappointment. The price for everything is very high compared to the portions or quantity they serve, again it is disappointing. The bill had extra charge for pickle tray which I only noticed after. We had 2 pickle trays but we were charged for 7. One of the reasons why I gave overall 2 stars instead of 3! I would recommend to check your bill before you pay.

The fish starter was lovely but the starter I had was oily.
My main wasnt very hot and didn't have a lot of taste.
The side dish I had was delicious.
It wouldn't be our first choice to go back.

Worst chicken biryani takeaway ever with watered down sauce. It was Luke warm and tasted of grease. I didn't receive a reply to my complaint but staff were aware and gave me a refund. They offered a free meal as well. I was hesitant but thought couldn't make a bad job of chicken tikka masala. How wrong I was! Again watered down sauce which was bright red and full of grease, half a dozen cubes of chicken floating in it. Nan bread ordered half the size of local Indian takeaway. I have a feeling they serve better food in the Resteraunt and skimp on takeaways. As many people wouldn't complain. In future will order from Durham Lane.

First time ordering takeaway from here. Food was warm bordering on cold on arrival. They sent a vegetable rogan through instead of vegetable korma , but that was fine, would have rang up if was bothered by that.

I have to agree with the other reviewers, the curry was ‘ok’ but it was quite bland and tasteless. The chicken was again ok, I felt there was enough.

The onion rice was really bland.

The bread was the biggest let down, it wasn’t that tasty. Kinda reminds me of the packeted naans you get from Tesco.

Such a shame really. I was expecting more taste considering the price. A bit more flavour in all the dishes and an improvement to the bread would have pushed up my star rating.

All the usual curry house favourites, but some really lovely curries I'd not come across before. Railway lamb curry - inspired by the mild curries served on long trains journeys. Also lamb Naga - a gorgeous hot curry. Staff were lovely! High standard of service. Will definitely come again if in the area!!

We came here to Soul Curry a few days ago and were definelty not disappointed.
What absolutely lovely and caring staff, all staff were very pleasant and caring.
The food was absolutely gorgeous!! Everything was so tasty and the portion sizes great!

We got a takeaway from here tonight and it was very nice, very fresh flavours and beautifully spiced. We ordered a chicken balti and a chicken bhuna, 2 garlic naan breads and 2 portions of chips. It was one of the nicest Indian cuisines we've had in ages. The meals were piping hot and the curry was amazing. Thank you very much. We will definitely be ordering again.
