My partner and I had a very enjoyable lunch in the Golden Lion on Thursday 23 October. We've been two or three times before and find the food well cooked and presented so always enjoy ourselves. The staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming. The restaurant is well looked after and presented as are the ladies restroom, something I'm very fussy about. The Golden Lion is easy to find and there is ample parking if travelling by car. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Called in for lunch and we had the choice of the full menu or an excellent value fixed price 2 or 3 course menu. Both had a good choice so we went for the fixed price menu.
This was very good value for money and the foods was excellent, we both had something different and both really enjoyed it. Service was excellent and very friendly, all in all we had lovely meal in very nice surroundings. We will definitely be back and recommend to anyone.

After not having visited for many years, booked a table with a friend for an overdue catch up and what a great choice it turned out to be.
Due to some health issues, I'd asked for a quiet table but a larger party in the same area proved a little noisy(that's my issue, not a fault of the establishment or anyone around). Requested a move outside, a lovely lady very kindly helped us grab one with no issue at all.
We both opted for the Fish & Chips and it was delicious! The batter was perfect, light and not greasy as it should be and the chips super tasty too....a very good sized portion too. I'll definitely not leave it as long between the next visit with such lovely food on offer😊
I have to leave a special mention for the team here as during our visit we spoke to a few...what a fabulous bunch of really lovely people! Warm, helpful, considerate and in my opinion just a credit to the Golden Lion😊

Celebrating a 60th birthday. We’ve eaten at the pub on a number of occasions and have always come away impressed with the food and service so had no hesitation booking for a 60th birthday celebration with friends.

Pleased to say that everything was spot on and we were all impressed with the excellent food and service. Thanks to all the staff who helped make the event special.

Stopped over for some food on the way home to Wilmslow from Montgomery due to the great reviews (see, your reviews matter).

Beautiful place, inside and outside. Gorgeous pots full of flowers showing a real caring attitude and attention to detail. It was raining and I had the dog and her blanket so didn’t get the chance to photograph.

Made to feel very welcome, even though we hadn't booked on a Saturday afternoon. We were able to sit on a table reserved for later.

Fabulous menu choice. We chose the salmon and the chicken. Beautifully cooked, superb flavours (mine had pesto and cheese and ricotta, wrapped in bacon or prosciutto). Point to mention for the chefs, really... perhaps we could have a choice of al dente or 'normal' veg... I really don't like hard broccoli. If I'd realised I would've asked for soft. But the food was to die for, it really was. Managed to catch one of the chefs in the car park and said the chicken and salmon were devine.
On arrival, I accidentally dropped my dog's food and smashed the glass bowl. Embarrassed but the staff member was so lovely and said he held the record for dropping things so it was nothing.
Highly recommend but it's VERY busy so to avoid disappointment I would book.
Wish we lived nearer because this would be a regular little stop-off if it were.

I had booked a table for 8:30pm Sat 15/11 for a party of three. Arrived at 7:45pm to a very busy venue (reminded me of pubs of old!). While my husband waited to get served at the bar I went to advise the restaurant staff about our booking and to let them know we were in the bar. The guy on the desk was so friendly and helpful. He advised our table was ready if we wanted to sit earlier. I said my husband was at the bar and he said to take a seat and he would sort the drinks. The service was top notch with various staff members checking all was okay throughout the evening. The food was reasonably priced and delicious. My Brother's a vegetarian and had plenty of options to choose from. Afterwards we enjoyed a drink in the bar area which had a lovely atmosphere. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend here and we will definately be back!

I had a pint of the new Hydes Dark Beer this Lunchtime after an event. Excellent. The Pub's decorated up for Christmas and the Staff have done a superb job, I'm sure it gets better every year. Well done Alan and Staff.

Wonderful staff and great food. When we first walked in you arrive in a bustling and thriving pub. It took us back a touch as expected the quieter vibe you get with aa gastro pub, but the excellent staff quickly pointed to the restaurant area which was that little bit calmer. The golden lion truly offers the best of both worlds and we had a fantastic time. Will definitely visit when in the area again.
