Went for lunch with my parents and we were super impressed! We are already excited to come back for dinner. The ingredients are fresh, high quality and cooked beautifully.

We had the Cullen Skink to start and it was the best Cullen Skink I have ever had. We were temped to order a second portion! We then had the burger and the fish & chips and both were delicious, and the pavlova for dessert.

The staff were lovely, friendly and attentive. When I shared that I had a gluten intolerance, the chef came to to talk me through the menu. They had gluten free options (GF bread to accompany the soup) but he also offered to make modifications to the mains to make them gluten free (eg haddock without the breadcrumbs).

The chef is clearly very talented and cares deeply about his food and customers. A very special hidden gem!

I would also recommend booking as it was full on a Wednesday lunchtime.

The food was immaculate and the service was faultless! This little restaurant is the definition of a hidden gem and we couldn’t be happier to have dined here during our stay at the estate!! We were looked after attentively without being crowded and I cannot get over how wonderful every dish was in presentation and in flavour!

My sister and I (Canadians) came for an afternoon visit in late August. We enjoyed all that the Estate had to offer and we were extremely pleased. The food, the hike to the old mansion, the gift shop, the kind staff, were all amazing parts of our visit which made it feel special! I look forward to returning a couple years to share with the rest of my family.

It's always nice when you go somewhere without knowing much about it, and it turns out to be a really good place! We didn't find The Hideaway by accident, but we had just done a quick internet search for somewhere to have lunch after visiting the amazing Little Sparta art garden nearby, and The Hideaway seemed as good a choice as any. And so it proved, but much more so - it was such a friendly relaxed place, the staff were really nice, and the food was top notch - a burger may be just a burger, but mine was a particularly good burger, and our panna cottas for dessert were very enjoyable. If it hadn't been the last day of our holiday we'd have definitely stocked up at the farm shop as well. An excellent find, and definitely somewhere to return to on our next break in the Scottish Borders.

The staff were very attentive and friendly, really looked after us. The food was delicious and the ingredients and flavours worked well together. It was a cold evening, but we found the ambience very cosy and comfortable at our table. Highly recommend coming here for a lovely evening.

Went here today for lunch for the first time and we were blown away. The food was just outstanding and we both had the seafood mixed grill, quite unique ! We look forward to returning soon and wouldn't hesitate to recommend !

We visited the Hideaway at the Carmichael Estate last night for a special birthday meal. What a surprise! The restaurant has only been open a few weeks and we were recommended by friends from both Lanark and Edinburgh. The service was efficient and attentive from our lovely waitress Daniella. My partner and I had the Seafood Platter to share as a starter and were blown away by the freshness and quality of the Scottish Seafood. The poached Mussels, Surf Clams, King Prawns, Smoked Salmon and Grilled Octopus were outstanding! We both had the special main course "Frutti Di Mer" with Seabass, Squid and Seared Scallops and Shellfish Linguine, and the Chablis recommended wine to accompany was a match made in heaven. We never normally have dessert...but couldn't resist the cheese and biscuits. We enjoyed everything so much we rebooked a table of 8 next week catching up with friends. This restaurant wouldn't be out of place in a city centre, the quality is that high! Its a wee hidden gem. Bravo to Emillio and team for bringing something special to the area. Ten out of 10.

Incredible. What an experience. True to the name, you must find this special Hideaway and make an evening of it. Do yourself a favour and book this today! From the minute you step in the door, the team are excited to see you and welcome you like old friends. The service is impeccable. Emili and Jo are absolute stars! They are happy to make recommendations, and accommodate requests, beautifully attentive and totally unobtrusive, allowing you to share your private rare moments with family and friends it the most beautiful, comfortable space. FYI in terms of scran, I have travelled Spain and South America and have never had seafood like this in Scotland, their octopus is stunningly prepared, the steak is phenomenal, literally field to fork. I could go on forever, just get yourself booked in! 👌
