A most wonderful way to celebrate the new year! We decided to stay over the new year so we didn’t have to worry about driving. You get a discount for booking the party and accommodation . We had lovely rooms and were able to put on our party finery at leisure and then meet in the bar. The party was so well organised with all the hats and blowers you could wish for. Not cheap rubbish either. We had a fabulous carvery meal which was properly seasoned and cooked . 3 delicious meats and all the fresh veg beautifully prepared. Seatrees cans were perfect and we had a brilliant time. The couple at the next table got engaged. Best of luck to them both. The next morning all the confetti had been cleared away and we had a first class breakfast. Thankyou to all the staff for giving up your time to give us a wonderful evening. 20/10 stars!!!

Absolutely stunning hotel. Thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay here. Upon arrival, check in was very smooth, and we were directed to our room, our room was BEAUTIFUL, gorgeous high ceilings and decorated in calming sage green and neutrals, the bathroom was modern with a lovely walk in shower. Very tasteful room decor, felt very homely and relaxed as soon as we opened the door, it was an instant wow. Extremely comfortable bed and pillows, black out blinds and curtains, and a separate electric heater as well as radiator in the room. Great sized wardrobes and a lot of drawer space, a lovely dressing table with large mirror and tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Our kettle was unable to be used, but this was communicated with reception, and the very helpful girl working on reception brought up a new kettle within 5 minutes. Wonderful service. We were here for a 50th birthday party which was wonderful, the hotel has many beautiful rooms and the bar was close and well stocked, and all service with a smile. The staff worked very hard and nothing was too much trouble, I am coeliac and was provided a gluten free buffet plate. The breakfast in the morning was fresh and delicious, gluten free toast with scrambled eggs and mushrooms, lovely. And as much fruit and coffee as you could wish for. We would most definitely return to this hotel and are planning another trip here for a relaxing weekend break as we also have family who live in Ilminster. This was the first time visiting this hotel and it is truly wonderful. All staff are excellent, it is very warm, inviting, friendly and very clean. Thank you so much for all of your hard work and effort!

Held our wedding here, and we could not have asked for a better day, Ashley and his team are incredible. They were all very happy to help, and nothing was too much for them. Ashley on the lead up to the wedding was attentive, patient and extremely helpful. Our Wedding Breakfast was delicious, very generous portions and came out hot too. |Rooms are all very good sizes, and comfortable with plenty of options to accommodate families, and guest needs. Breakfast was also fantastic both days. Location and parking is excellent. ||Thanks again for everything you have done for us, we’ll certainly be back. |Vikki and James

Sunday lunch review only!!
The staff here are adorable! Thank you all for fitting us in last minute for Sunday lunch despite there being a huge function the same day. The food was lovely - we had one meat option and one veggie - both were tasty and generous. Special mention for the very tasty cauliflower cheese.
Very chilled and relaxed atmosphere with a friendly vibe - and everyone was so kind to our little dog!! Lots of cosy places to curl up with a pint, too! Had a lovely afternoon, thank you!
We will be back for drinks and food again!

Stayed here for the first time as my son has moved to ilminster and we visited for the New Year.||First of all, the staff, throughout our stay were helpful and friendly. ||We didn’t use the hotel for food at all as we used local pubs whilst out with family and we met in ilminster for breakfast.||I’d heard good comments about the food so maybe next time.||Our only slight disappointment was in the room quality. The room we stayed in was dated and in particular the shower and bath need an overhaul. The performance of the shower was just about ok, but the shower head was slightly cracked and it just gave the impression of a bit ‘make do’. I would say it’s not great value, but I would probably stay again due to its location being so close to town, which is a delight.

I booked this hotel on the basis it was 4* and part of the Best Weston Group. Unfortunately, it is neither!!! The booking via Booking.com, advertised the hotel and clearly they have not been aware that the hotel has not been part of the Best Weston chain for some time and the information at best is misleading, but my guess, as this is definitely not a 4* hotel, it was omitted to post the true information of this very tired and poorly run hotel. I stayed at the hotel in September this year when we had a cold snap in the weather, the heating in the room didn't work. There was not a heated towel rail, hence when we returned to the hotel that night, and the room had not been serviced, the towels were wet and cold. It would appear that the hotel only service the room every other day. The, over the very high bath shower, needed a wall handle to enter and exit the shower. The handle was hanging off the wall and definitely not safe to use. The shower was very old and very poor pressure. The radiator in the bathroom, that did not work, was so old with paint peeling off, it was only fit for the skip. Unbeknown to us when we booked, we were put into the annex on the first floor. Access to the room was via a very narrow steep stairwell with no lift. Although we are both pensioners, luckily we are fit and not over weight. However we were not offered any help, even though we didn't need it, to carry our bags to the room. A big concern was that the cold tap, again only fit for the skip, on the bathroom hand basin, warm water. As we were not sure if this was suitable to drink, we had to purchase bottled water. Unheard of in a so called 4* hotel, we had to select our breakfast the night before by filling out a form. Never had this request in any star hotel or B&B before. In any event, apart from the first morning , they got the request wrong every time. |I
