The reason is because when I was in on 5 December my hands were really cold I was only in 20 mins in the shop I just had to leave I think it's a disgrace that the shop is like this. I did mention it to a shop assistant and I was told that is how the shop owner's have it. If you can stand the cold then they do have a great selection of clothes and other items for the house

Only thing wish it could be bigger. But that's hard in Durham and city centre.

Typical 'bargain bonanza/bit of everything on a budget' type store, selling a bit of all sorts for home, garden etc. Did find what I was after - bought a decorative lantern for the garden. They were all scratched, so had to chose best of a bad bunch. They shouldn't have really been sold full price, given their condition was anything but perfect, but at same time I was too impatient to order an item from any online shops, and Durham offers very little in shopping choices these days. Having T J Hughes is better than having yet another empty unit.

Fantastic department store. Very old fashioned in style but great bargains. Particularly good electrical. But all depts have great bargains. Lots of stuff for young people which they will see if they actually go in. Very good service. Hope this shop doesn't close down. Cafe at back with best views in Durham.
