I recently ordered a Pork Pad Thai from UniThai Oriental Market in Hove, and it did not disappoint!

The portion was generous, with plenty of tender pork, perfectly cooked rice noodles, and a great balance of sweet, tangy, and umami flavors. The fresh lime, crunchy peanuts, and bean sprouts added the perfect finishing touch.

It wasn’t greasy, and the flavors tasted authentic—just like something you’d get from a proper Thai street food stall.

UniThai isn’t just a place for great takeaway—it’s a hidden gem.

It’s primarily an Asian grocery store, packed with Thai, Japanese, and other Southeast Asian ingredients, from fresh produce to specialty sauces and snacks.

In addition to its takeaway service, it also has a small restaurant tucked inside, serving up freshly cooked Thai dishes at very reasonable prices.

If you’re in Hove and craving authentic Thai food, UniThai is a must-visit.

Whether you’re picking up ingredients to cook at home or grabbing a delicious meal, this place has you covered.

Having lived in thailand for many years, unithai is my little piece of Thailand in the UK. I go here to eat or buy cooking ingredients, and it's the only really authentic Thai food I've ever found outside of Thailand. I recommend all the dishes, but particulary the Pad Kra Pao, minced chicken, holy basil, jasmine rice. As your back in thailand here, make sure you are clear on the chilli heat level, otherwise you'll end up with standard Thai level, which for a farang is very hot.

The owners here are lovely, really nice people. Always happy and friendly.

Chicken pad Thai was far too sweet and not very tasty. Pad Med Mamuang was also not tasty and had none of the usual spices associated with Thai food. Shame. This place used to be so good.

Some of the best Thai food I've had outside of Thailand! The pork broth/soup is insane (see photo), so flavoursome, tons of noodles, spice, meat, deep, rich broth and you get absolutely tons!! For about £7.
Super charming too, hidden away at the back of a Thai/Chinese mini supermarket.
