I eat in here quite often as I like the friendly staff and atmosphere

But this visit for food has been poor
Beef lasagna last week was appalling burnt, bland and dreadful.
As it was the first bad meal I’ve had here I let it slide.

This evening I ordered bacon cheese burger
On taking the bun top off to add barbecue sauce, I came across something similar to bacon.

I complained and I was sent out a replacement in the white pot ?

I was told it was skinny bacon, more like shitty bacon and the reason it looks so bad is the way it is cooked.
Clearly it is cooked differently every time

I’ve not eaten any of the bacon and sent back the kitchen.

I’m very disappointed

Hopefully tomorrow evening’s meal will be better

Ordered 2 mixed grills both not good not an even amount of chips on each plate, also suasges had been microwaved, when complained they went to get some fresh and preceeded to bring me out some more freshly microwaved ones which were just as hard and as they came out it looked like i would have to reach into my pocket for poop bags!! . Also Ordered 2 pints of a guest ale which they don't do!!! When asked for a refund on drinks was told they couldn't because I paid by PayPal, not heard that one before. After we offered free deserts but we thought we'd give that a miss. We were then told that they would give us a full refund and had managed to work out how to refund PayPal ? ?. Still waiting for refund. It has been over 3 weeks now and still no refund one word disgraceful

We thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We eat out a lot between Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds and our food today knocked spots off anything we had out in a long time . Super Specials Jerk chicken & wings, Tandoori chicken sizzler followed by trifle baked Alaska and the sticky toffee& bourbon pudding. We will be back !!!

The food was not great I'm afraid.
I had ordered the ring of burgers as I've had it before at a different Hungry Horse and really enjoyed it but here it was dry and very overcooked, and the chips were reheated and stale. I didn't complain about it as we had already waited 40 minutes for 3 meals and we didn't have time to wait for fresh food.
My son's vegan bolognese was very watery and was missing the veggie sticks, I had to ask for them and when they did bring them, the veg sticks were very dry/stale.
Also, my husband had ordered the full Monty mixed grill and halfway through eating it he realised the steak was not on the plate.. again we didn't mention it as we didn't realise straight away but we were pretty disappointed with the food. We hadn't been here for some time and were looking forward to the meal here, so this was a bit of a letdown.
My drinks were delicious though, I had the cocktail deal (2 for £8) Vitamin Sea. The atmosphere was good, not busy either which was perfect. The staff were friendly.

We had dinner at the crown last night and it was fantastic. My partner had burger sizzler combo with extra eggs. We shared onion rings. I had mc and cheese with side salad and garlic bread. It was all so tasty. We both said it was the best food we’ve ever had in there. Well done guys

We have been going to the Crown for years but it's taken us a while to review. The food and service is always great. We are at the Crown for my mother's 70th birthday and again had another great visit. Thanks to all the staff and waitress for being awesome!

Sunday night walk ins. Plenty of tables. Almost all needed a good wipe over. Windows beside us were grim! Food was timely and good. Red plastic “basket” cheap and tacky. Guinness was excellent. Green king beer on the flat side. Don’t see one table being cleaned down. Maybe staff shortages?

Amazing meal with my friend. The steak was cooked perfectly, compliments to the chef. I recommend the sizzling, smothered steak. Also prompt service even though the pub was packed.
