Just absolutely horrible customer service and very questionable business practices!! I went in after being notified by Evri that my parcel was ready to collect. I politely asked to collect it but the older man refused to give it to me, told me I was “too early to collect” and proceeded to YELL at me to leave and wouldn’t let me get a word in. 2 hours later, I get a notification that my parcel had been collected (obviously not by me) and when I showed up to the shop my package had fully been opened and they were taping it up!!!! I took a picture of this because I knew something would be stolen, and OF COURSE IT WAS. I called the shop to report my missing shorts and the solution they offered was to call me back if it turns up… the disrespect aside, this is the worst service I’ve ever been subjected to. Thanks for ruining my day and letting my items be stolen. Don’t recommend anyone to trust this place.

I'd consider it my local and it has a fantastic selection of items but the one downside is its rarely open by it's displayed 7AM opening with it usually more accurately being opened around 7:20 it's a nitpick but can be inconvenient when choosing the shop on the way to work.

Have lived in the area for many years and I have always had excellent service. Useful for grabbing milk, eggs and many other things I may need last minute. Staff are always so friendly and I have had many a good chat with everyone. The owners have been serving the area for around 40 years, and it will be very sad when they eventually retire as you never no who may take over to replace them. Better the devil you know I think the saying goes.

Would never come back. Not only is the older man who works there incredibly rude and hostile to customers, they also gave my girlfriend’s parcel to someone else and allowed an item to be stolen. Even though it was completely their fault, they did not offer to refund the stolen item or fix the situation in any way.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, so is the owner and his wife.

I can’t recommend Bright News highly enough. Our whole street use the shop and it is the real heart of the community. Vinod and the staff are lovely, friendly, helpful and polite.

They do get the very occasional rude customer, and always deal with the situation with tact and grace. I was surprised to see a recent bad review by one such customer, who has shown their true colours by being unpleasant in their review.

I have been a loyal and happy customer for the last 20 years, and will continue to be for the next 20! And I would like to say a big thank you to Vinod for everything he does for the local community.

Popped over to Bright News recently to grab a few bits as they are quite local to home.

Going by the reviews, thought it could well be my new local.

Sadly not.

Was met with a cold atmosphere as I went in, with one staff member continually following and observing me as I tried to find items on the shelves.

Didn't think I was dressed in a particularly off-putting way, and yes I had applied de-odorant before I left the house!

Got to the counter and the lady pretty much ignored me, despite being welcoming to other customers ahead of me.

Paid for my shopping and not even a thank you - just went straight back on her phone.

Did payment go through?
Can I take my shopping away?

After a moment of awkwardly standing there whilst she was more interested by what was on her screen, I left and said "have a nice day". Nothing.

Maybe they were having a bad day?
Well, they were perfectly welcoming to everyone else. Incredibly rude and unwelcoming.

Disappointing really, especially given the reviews - thought they could be a great local spot I could support.

I really want to support local/independent businesses.
Guess its back to Sainsbury's sadly.
