The food here is absolutely incredible - especially the tomato salad starter pls get it if you come, it blew my mind! The owners are absolutely lovely and the service was impeccable the staff are really on it and it’s clearly a well oiled machine. The pub itself has amazing atmosphere with beautiful vintage decorations and a very warm and cozy vibe. 10/10 recommend!!!!

We were staying at the Mill cottage(amazing place), just down the road. Popped in for a quick drink with Pablo our dog, lovely atmosphere and a warm welcome. ||It was a shame we didn’t book to eat as the food looked lovely. ||Highly recommend, even for a drink.

We loved staying here. It’s quirky, historic, ideally placed and the owners are fabulous. We stayed for three nights and will definitely be back. Breakfasts are great and plentiful. Evening meals are good too, not an huge choice but the meals we ordered were delicious and well presented. Any dietary requirements are catered for as far as is possible.

Fantastic place. Great historic building… with its own pub ! Stayed 3 nights. Hosts were always very attentive and positive, when ever you needed them. We were well looked after. A small but select choice of menu meals in the pub … but it was always top quality food. ( Heard other diners say so too. Lots of locals coming in for a pint, which is a good sign). Big garden with lots of seating and swifts circling overhead all thru summer. Good cooked breakfasts in the morning. Some corners of the place showing their age a little, that’s to be expected being built in 1380 ! The stream that runs thru their big garden .. is the actual border between England and Wales. Close to Hay in Wye, and lots of other places. (The “Small Breeds & Owl centre” in Kington is great for kids) . A charming historic Inn, with great food, its own cozy pub downstairs, and great hosts. We’ll be visiting again !!

We called in for Sunday lunch yesterday. The building is lovely and the staff polite. The real ales were well kept but thefood was a little disappointing. Nicely cooked, but small portions and lukewarm food served on cold plates. The roast beef was wafer thin and the two potatoes on each plate were hard and almost cold - cooked hours earlier. The £22 lemon sole was a small fillet the size of a large fish finger...
After paying (and examining the bill as an afterthought), we were shocked to see a 10% service charge had been added without communicationg the fact. It's a pub, not a restaurant; gratuities should be at the customer's discretion.

Absolutely gorgeous place to stay and eat. Owners were very helpful and extremely accommodating as one of the party needed gluten and dairy free meals. Service was impeccable and the room was cosy with lovely views of the surrounding area. Perfect pit stop and would definitely stay again.

We stopped for a drink on our way home after visiting Hay-on-Wye. It's a wonderful 14th century building with lovely gardens. The beer (from a Hay brewery) was very tasty, according to my husband, the young man behind the bar was incredibly welcoming, and the resident standard poodle was ever so friendly!
