Visited the store twice.

First visit I found a chair which I wanted to buy in the show room. When availability was checked it was showing as sold out. Asked if it was possible to purchase the one in the show room. Was told no as it’s a display item. Seems strange that there is a display item for a product which can’t be purchased. What’s the point?

Second visit found a set of three dining chairs which were exactly the same with a take home today sticker and a sale price. Spoke to a sales person and said, great I’ll take all three. He said that it was only one chair which was in the sale and available today and the other two chairs (which were on the same table as this chair and exactly the same product) would have to be ordered in at the higher price.

However, if you want to go somewhere for an excellent coffee and spot of lunch the cafe is fantastic! Worth the visit just for that!

I placed an order on Sept 14th for two bar stools, salesman said 7-10 days to transfer from Teesside to Gateshead retail outlet. We get a call 10 days later to pick up at a warehouse in Dunstan! Not the arrangements we agreed on. They would now move them from their warehouse to the retail store. 10th Oct I called them again to enquire where the stools are, answer is they don't really know. What a load of rubbish their system is. If your in a hurry for anything they have to order in for you I'd avoid Barker & Stonehouse. I ain't a happy customer.

In January, we were in Gateshead showroom looking for new sofas to refresh our living room, the customer sevice (Mr.J)did his best not to buy and was unhelpful at all?as we were asking to see sofas were on their website, he confirmed that they are not available to see in the store, so I asked what if we ordered the sofas but did not like them at home!!he replied literally: you are stuck, no return ? I said this is unfair, he continued: we are not selling to return the items and did not bother himself to check the policy( in case he has no clue) so I checked the website for the return policy and found out that we can return the items if we changed our mind and reached Mr. J again and showed him the information, he replied but you'll lose the delivery charges?, I said: it is fine in that case and I had this experience before with another company, he replied: so you don't mind loosing the delivery charges!! I confirmed not.
Actually, my partner was fed up with him, so we left the showroom and arranged purchasing the sofas online.
?I would like to thank the lady on the customer service phone, she was really friendly and helpful and sorry not to remember her name.
Hope the sofas quality is as expected and worth the experience we passed !!

Horrendous customer service, dealt with 4 different staff so far and not one of them has bothered to let me know the outcome of where our order is.
They just don't seem to care.
Do not pay up front and do not believe a word they say.

I was pleasantly surprised at the prices in store for what I have so far found to be excellent furniture. It has been refreshing to move pieces around without it bending and swaying like cheap flat pack units. Staff are not overbearing while you browse but happy to help and answer questions when you need assistance. Canny at giving you a hand to the car, too!

Great experience, we will definitely be back!

We ordered 5 pieces of the New Frontier furniture on the 27th December, we were informed we wouldn’t get it till the 23rd March, I rang up when the time was getting near to be told it wouldn’t arrive till the 31st March.
I rang on the 28 th March to be told it wouldn’t be coming in till the 6 th April, at this point I was getting concerned so I asked if we would be able to getting delivery asap about that time.
I have just rang again now to be told the furniture is now in but delivery isn’t till the 16th April !!!, as the vans are full, but would I like to pay the balance which I did,
I certainly will not purchase another thing from Barker and Stonehouse.
